On the afternoon of October 4, 2003, we had the extreme pleasure to perform at the birthday party of a very special lady. Katie Hutson is 90 years young! Katie comes from a very talented, musical family and was one of the pioneers of early radio in Houston, Texas. She was part of a family band that played old-time country music, live on KPRC radio in the early/mid 1930s. She still has the Kay mandolin that she bought in 1936 and, after almost ten years of not playing, she sat in with the band for a number of tunes. And her sister, Rae (this month she will be 92), came up and jammed with us on guitar. At one point we had four generations of the family playing together for the first time! What a very special memory this created for all. It's times like these that make performing so very special. Thanks Katie and all of your family, we love you all!
